A studio practice for unfinished first weeks
The official registered business name is Workspace Fern. The practice was established in 2017 in Mungyeong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, after years of watching membership desks and clinic intakes lose people between a completed application and a quiet first Friday.
Origin
In 2017 the practice opened above a side street near Sangnaeri, Maseong-myeon. The first commissions were local: a seasonal programme that could not fill its welcome Saturday, a clinic whose consent sheets came back incomplete. Those early reports still set the shape of the work — paper first, then the room, then the people who stalled.
Workspace Fern remains a small studio. A lead practitioner runs each study. A second reader checks the written report before the closing session. We travel in Gyeongsangbuk-do as a matter of course and further in Korea when the quote allows.
How we work
We borrow the patience of a field notebook. Welcome mornings are timed. Forms are filled in by us as if we were new. Interviews are short and specific. Findings are ranked by how many people they touch, not by how dramatic they sound.
People
The studio is led by practitioners who have sat on both sides of an intake desk: coordinating arrivals, then later reading the same path as outsiders. Korean and English are used according to the pack in front of us. We do not claim a professional licence beyond the work described on this site; the credential that matters is a report a coordinator can act on the next intake window.
